Many people have been asking us how they can help themselves, their loved ones, and neighbors amid what feels like a barrage of stress.
Your care makes a great difference in fostering healing and restoration – both at home and around the country or the world. Here are some helpful tips to expand care:
- Practice mindfulness or prayer (you can do this even while you are working)
- Practice gratitude and appreciation (you can do this anytime, anywhere)
- Kindness toward one's self and others (did you know this can brighten your spirit and generate hormones for personal agency?)
- Good hygiene (always important)
- Healthy habits for eating, sleeping, and exercise (these help you pace yourself, and sustain you in reaching your goals)
- Art, dance, or music (like kindness, these help inspire you along the way)

- Bearing witness to others' stories (when people who are suffering feel like they have been seen, heard, valued by a companion, often they become inspired to resolve their situation)
- Sharing meals (fellowship helps us feel a sense of belonging)
- Playing together (good cheer helps us feel less overwhelmed)
- Seeking reconciliation (practicing relational repair helps us feel more connected and stronger together)
- Contributing support to help relieve others' burdens (a helping hand helps us feel like we can make it)
- Volunteer with a local or national VOAD member organization (join together with experts in the field)
- Contribute financially to ICTG (your financial support provides much needed coaching, education, and therapeutic services to leaders, which then encourages their organizations in make a greater difference amid hurting communities)
